There is something unexplainable about music. It has an ability to evoke every emotion; to heal, to feel, and in the case of the Gin Blossoms, to transport.
From the instant the group kicked off the Calgary Stampede Roundup Music Fest with 'Follow You Down', it was evident each member of the crowd was on their own personal journey. A nostalgia fuelled trip down memory lane. One of the cleanest sets I've ever heard, it was almost as if you were listening to one of their albums at an 'Empire Records' or 'driving around this town' on a perfect summer night.
The proud Arizona band led by Robin Wilson was crisp, sharp, poignant, and humorous; even thanking the crowd for inviting them to their "drunken barn dance".
Traversing through their deep catalogue, the Gin Blossoms commanded the crowd thoughtfully and with expertise of a band that doesn't just play to their crowd, but instead, speaks to them.
It was a night where 'everything was cool'.
