Teenage Dirtbags

There are certain songs that encapsulate a moment in time for a generation. Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus is one of those iconic songs. A tune that overshadows a fantastically written debut album that was released 25 years ago. Decades later, the song resonates stronger than ever. Seemingly experiencing a revival in popularity, similar to other songs of that vintage being rediscovered by a whole new generation.

So when their Canadian tour was announced, I had to complete the millenial holy trinity of songs to see live in concert (along with Wonderwall and Iris). Wheatus did not disappoint as it brought its one of a kind brand of power pop to #yyc on Saturday, April 18th.

A set as unique as the group itself, Wheatus played the debut album in its entirety, while letting the crowd choose the order of songs. Outside of the obvious, highlights were definitely Lemonade, Leroy, and Truffles. Nostalgia on point. What more could a Teenage Dirtbag ask for.
