As a music fan, there are certain bands that just seem to hit at the right time and define an era of your life. Bands you grow with over a certain period. That's Sum 41 for me. The group holds a deeply personal place in my musical soul and seeing their career culminate last night in #yyc was a uniquely unforgettable moment. Kind of like reuniting with an old friend who moved away but is back in town for one night only; you laugh and reminisce about the old times and you also learn what they've been up to. Similar to reliving the moments of the bands older material and leaning into the newer stuff too.

From the youthful energy of 'Makes No Difference' and 'Fat Lip' through to the seasoned tracks like 'War' and 'Walking Disaster', Sum 41 came to play and it was clear they were not taking the moment for granted. The setlist spanned the groups discography, threaded with reflective moments of being in a band for close to 30 years; like flipping through the pages of a high school yearbook. They even brought the metal as Dave's guitar mastery was much appreciated by the crowd. Sum ended the set with 'In Too Deep', a perfect send-off between the band and the enthusiastic Saddledome crowd.

The best part, the crowd interaction. It was genuinely intentful, like the group was snapping a picture in time, one you keep, not just another photo stored on your phone. This wasn't just 'another tour'.

This one has meaning, the Tour of the Setting Sum.
